History of the Parish :
On 24th August 1985, Fr. Vimol Singh C.M. then assistant Parish Priest of Krishna chandrapur made the first contact with this region through the hostel students. In the same year, Msgr. John Bodra of Jamshedpur Diocese, a Ho man himself, visited Sarat region together with Fr. Vimol Singh and initiated Christianity there. In 1987, Fr. Paul Kidangan was appointed there and he began to reside in Mukuru Sahi in a village hut on 9th April 1987. On 20th December 1990, the priests’ residence at Lavanyadeipur was blessed opened. Gradually, faith began to spread into further villages of Kaptipada Block.

On 24th June 1994, the Sisters of the Handmaids of Mary had their Convent and a Dispensary blessed and inaugurated at Lavanyadeipur. When Fr. Paul Kidangan was transferred to Manglapur Fr. Jose Aressril assued to be the parish Priest. this was the time the new church building was constructed and was blessed opened for the public woriship. During this time a hostel also was started for the tribal boys. When Fr. Jose Aressril was tranferred to the minor seminary as the rector Fr. Kuriakose Mambrakat was appointed as teh Parish Priest. In 2003 when Fr. Kuriakose Mambrakat was transferred to Mitrapur Fr. Saji Karathankal releaved him as the parish priest.
