Rangiam Mission was started in 1973 by the late Fr. Joseph Thyil CM who took residence in Rangiam in the most difficult situations. He made further contacts to extend the Gospel message. In 1976, when he was transferred to K.C Pur, Fr. Fausto Gregorio CM was placed in Rangiam as Parish Priest and Director of the Catechetical Training Centre there.

In two batches he trained 18 catechists. In 1978, Fr. Joseph Kizharam succeeded Fr. Gregorio and he was there for long 8 years. He can be called the real builder of Rangiam parish complex. Staying himself in a very modest structure, he built up Shanti Bhavan Convent which was blessed on 22nd November, 1981, the dispensary was blessed opened for the General Public. On 25th October, 1984, Shati Bhavan Girls’ Hostel was inaugurated with 12 inmates under the charge of the Visitation Sisters. On 19th March, 1985 the Presbytery was blessed and inaugurated. In the same year the Health Workers’ Training Centre was inaugurated too. Fr. Joseph Kizhararam also initiated the construction of the Parish church but had to leave for his successors to complete the same. Also the boys’ hostel construction was initiated by Fr. Joseph Kizharam. In 1986 he was transferred elsewhere and Fr. Chacko Palyathil succeeded him. In 1987, Fr. Chacko made contacts with Komarjontha out station and received them into Faith. In 1988 Fr. Job Kattuparampil CM was installed parish Priest of Rangiam and during his time on May 13th 1990 the Parish Church was blessed and inaugurated for public worship. On June 3rd 1990, Fr. Zacharias Kunnamkattuthara succeeded Fr. Job as the Parish Priest of Rangiam and on 5th September 1993, Fr.Zacharias moved to Baghmara enabling Fr. Daniel Murmu to assume Charge as parish Priest of Rangiam. Fr. M. Balthazar succeeded him as the parish priest for a couple of years. Fr. Gerald Gomes re-leaved him as the parish priest and continued up to 2006 when Fr. Daniel Murmu once again assumed to be the parish Priest.
