(Jyothi Nivas) offers a three-years
course, which includes the first two
stages of the priestly formation,
envisaged in the Ratio Formationis
(Programme for Priestly Training) of the
undivided Indian Province.The Programme
of the seminary is also based on the
fundamental principles laid down in the
Decree on the ‘Training of Priests’ (optatam
totius) of the Second Vatican Council.
The duration of the first stage is one
year. The aim of this stage is to enable
the candidate towards an initial
reflection on and right motivation for
the Vincentain vocation. The duration of
the second stage is two years. The aim
of this stage is to help a candidate to
have the basic knowledge about the
Priestly and Vincentain Vocation and
arrive at a free and responsible
decision concerning it. During this
stage a candidate is provided with an
opportunity to pursue +2 studies.
The whole programme covers five
dimensions of the Vincentian Formation,
Viz. Spiritual, intellectual, Community
life, apostolic and human maturity.
Accordingly, the whole programme helps
the candidate : (a) to deepen the
relationship with Christ the Evangeliser
: (b) to widen the intellectual horizon
and frontiers of knowledge; (c) to
become integrated into the Community (d)
to have awareness of the pastoral needs
of the people and demands of missionary
life and (e) to cope with the emotional
demands of his age and establish amity.
