History of the Parish :
From 1983 onwards Fr.Chacko Panathara C.M. from Baghmara was making contacts with this region and baptised 15 persons in Talbandh for the first time. On 25th August 1986, when transferred from Baghmara Fr. Chacko was appointed to Talbandh as pioneer Missionary. Fr. Chacko resided at K.C. pur and began to attend to the needs of Talbandh area intensively. In the mean time a very modest house was rented at Bangriposi and on 20th October 1987 the SABS Sisters went to live in there from where together with Fr. Chacko they visited Talbandh region. On 16th August 1986 Fr. Chacko too moved to Bangriposi. In 1988, the Marshal Organisation was started to better the condition of the people. On 2nd February 1991 the SABS Convent was blessed at Ghatiduba to which the sisters shifted their residence. Fr. Chacko too moved to Ghatiduba to live in a hut and began building up the station there. Eventually Fr. Chacko was transferred to another virgin Soil Josipur and on 15th May 1991 Fr. Mathew Thundiyil C.M. took charge of Ghatiduba Mission. On the 15the June 1991 the Marshal Dispensary, Girls’ hostel, boys’ hostel and the Oriya Primary School were started in Ghatiduba. After 2 years when Fr. Mathew Thundiyil was transferred to Manipur Fr. Jolly Maliekal C.M. took charge of Ghatiduba parish and remained there from the year 1993 to 1998. It was during his time Marshal M.E.School started in the year 1996. Again due to Fr. Jolly’s effort two chapels were built in the mission stations and Community hall came up in Ghatiduba centre. When Fr. Jolly was transferred, Fr. Prakash Tirkey was appointed as a parish priest in the year 1998. After two years of his good service Fr. Tirkey handed over the parish to Fr. Bimol Singh and went to Jyotinivas Baripoda. Fr. Bimol Singh remained only one year but did a good service to the parish and went to Gopalpur Parish. On the 1st of July 2001 Fr. Mathew Singh, C.M. took charge of Ghatiduba Parish and is serving as a parish priest till today.
